Situation 805: “My friend owed me money. I ran into him at the mall and I…”

I went to a football game with a group of friends and I was the one that purchased the tickets online (they were $200 each). 3 of my friends paid me before the game, while my other friend said he didn’t have the money right then. He said that he will pay me once he gets it. I believed him because he has a part time job and we’ve been friends for a long time.

It’s been 6 months now and he still hadn’t paid me. I didn’t believe he’s forgotten about it because one time when we were talking he said “I still owe you the $200 from the game right?”

What irritates me about this whole situation is that he gets angry when someone doesn’t pay him back right away, but he was taking so long to pay me back. So I saw him at the mall with his girlfriend shopping for some new Jay’s!! I went up to him to say whats up and he responded with “just out here trying to get them retro’s.” I look to him and say for real bruh!!! My first response was why don’t you pay me my money back for what you owe me from the football ticket I paid for instead of buying stuff you don’t need? He actually ended up paying me my money on the spot and walked away with his girl. He text me later that day and said I wasn’t a real friend for making him look dumb in front of his girl. I told him forget your girl you owed me money bro, pay up and situations like that won’t happen. I learned my lesson never to let people borrow money. I don’t feel bad for collecting my money, but I do feel bad for putting him on the spot in front of his girl. That was the only way I was going to get my money though. Now, should I apologize, or just let it be? (email your situation to: listeners@957thebeatfm.com)
