Pet of the Week: Colonius!

Squishy. Adorable. Playful. Wobbly. Handsome.  These are just a few of the words that are used to describe Colonius.  This 8 year young English Bulldog mix has a mess of challenges facing him but faces each one with the heart of a lion.  Colonius came to the shelter very wobbly on his hind legs.  With medical treatment he has become more and more stable on his feet but his arthritis will need lifelong management. Colonius loves to play; he chases a large ball around the yard like a pig.  He walks well on the leash for short distances.  Colonius has met several other dogs without issue but because of his fragile hips we have not fully exposed him to them.  This handsome boy would love a soft bed to rest in, some support for his arthritic body, and most importantly, a home to call his own.  Colonius is on supportive care at the shelter and we are hoping to do more. In order to get Colonius full diagnostics and explore some physical therapy to help him regain muscle strength, we need your help!  Our goal is to raise $500 for his care.  Colonius would love to meet you so please stop by the Santa Maria Animal Center at 548 W. Foster Rd in Santa Maria.  If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to Colonius please visit www.sbcanimalservices.org and click on the donate button today or visit your local Santa Barbara County Animal Services Shelter.
