Good morning Sandy Danger, and good morning to all the Beat listeners! I need some ideas, suggestions on how to get my son motivated so I would really appreciate everyone’s input especially from parents! So my son just graduated from high school this year and I know it’s summer and it’s kinda like a break before fall is and it’s time to take the next step. Well my husband and I have talked to our son and asked him what he plans he has now that he’s out of high school. We have always instilled in him how important education is so we definitely have encouraged him to go to college. Since he was a kid we talked to him about this. Well, he has little to zero interest in college. He has his mind made up that college is probably not the route he’s planning on taking next. It’s such a shame because he was a 4.0 student through out all his schooling. He has little motivation on doing anything. Or I shouldn’t anything because the one thing he is really into is his art. Not because he’s my son I am saying this, but he is very talented at drawing and painting. He specializes in realist portraits and that type of stuff. He told us he wants to pursue becoming a tattoo artist. Although he is one of the most talented persons I know, my husband and I are not 100 thrilled to hear him say that. It is his life & we want him to be happy, but we would like him to get a different career. He currently started volunteering as an apprentice at a shop here in town and that’s were he spends most of his day. My concern is that that field might not be enough to make a living and we really just want the best for him. My question is should we support his choice or keep insisting that he goes to college and hopefully he will find interest in something else… help!
