Have you been searching for a cat with the heart of a lion and the spirit of a dog? Canelo is you boy! This large, laid back, guy with sparkly eyes and the best “why did you wake me” look, is waiting for adoption at the Santa Maria Animal Center. He reminds us of a miniature mountain lion that lives for your affection. Canelo is kind of like the king of our shelter and he joins our staff meetings in the morning by meowing for affection and waving his paws. It is safe to say that Canelo has a little FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) and will make it know he is around. He is playful and loves interactive toys (toys that move). Canelo would make a great addition to a home with grade school or older children and space for him to roam his kingdom. All cats are safer as indoor only pets and we believe that Canelo would be more than happy to watch through a window while cuddled up in a sunny spot. Come meet Canelo at the Santa Maria Animal Center at 548 W. Foster Rd. This weekend, August 18th, at all Santa Barbara County Animal Services’ Shelters, you can take home your very own king (or queen) of the castle during our Meet Your Match promotion. Canelo and his fellow felines over the age of five months will have their adoption fees waived!
