The Mother-Daughter Bond
Good morning. I want to see if you all could help me understand something. My girlfriend is very close with her mother. I think that’s great. I have no problem with that at all. Everyone tells me that the mother-daughter bond is very special. That’s cool and all, but there are things about my girl’s tightness with her mom that make me cringe.
For starters, every time they’re together, they’re always holding hands. My girlfriend is 26 and her mother is in her 50s. They hold hands like six-year-old besties. They share clothes too and even intimate secrets. Last week we were all out for dinner and the two of them kept picking off each others plates. I only have brothers so I’ve never seen a mother-daughter relationship quite like this before.
It seems very weird to me and it kind of makes me feel a little awkward to be around them. Am I just crazy? Is this normal? …REALLY RE-THINKING THE RELATIONSHIP……. Thanks guys.
