My girlfriend and I are about to hit the 3 year mark, it’s the first relationship I’ve had which I feel hasn’t gone downhill. I am truly happy with her. However since we started dating she never liked me going out with 2 specific friends,one is a male the other is a female, who both happen to be in a relationship with each other and I also want to point out she was my friend first before him. I grew up as an only child so me and this girl clicked, but as a brother/sister type of way. We even refer to each other as bro & sis’. It does cause a lot of jealousy with girl because she is so close to me, which led her to give me a ultimatum either my female friend or her. She said she wasn’t really bothered with me seeing my male friend, if I wanted to keep seeing him it’s fine as long as I doesn’t spend more time with him then with my girlfriend. But the other female is a definite no. I finally told my female friend aka my sis’ , that I just can’t see her anymore, and if I go out with my friend i.e. her boyfriend, I can’t have her come with us. I didn’t want to do it but I did. I’m wondering if I took the right choice. I’m sacrificing something that does make me happy for the sake of our relationship and ultimately her happiness, which in the end leads to my happiness. It’s a messed up situation and I just don’t know if I did what i had to do or if I even had a choice because in reality my girlfriend has nothing to worry about because I don’t have feelings for my female friend like that. No matter what I say or do I can’t get my girlfriend to understand my relationship with my female friend is a true friendship and ONLY that.
Needless to say my friend got super upset but she said she’ll respect it and she’ll never talk to me again. What do you think? I’m so confused I don’t know what to even think any more.
