My husband of five years grew up in an abusive household. I don’t know how it is that he became such a sweetheart with parents who are just bad people, but he won’t cut them out of his life. They are constantly taking advantage of his kindness and are one of the few stressful parts of our life. I won’t go over to their house anymore and whenever he does, he always comes back drained and upset… and that obviously affects me too! How do I get him to see how much of a drag on his happiness his parents are and how much better off he’ll be when he just stops letting them run all over him? Thanks for taking time answering.
