Dear Danger and Loui! I listen every morning and it feels a little weird to be the one writing in today. So my boyfriend and I moved in together in November, so just a few months ago. Well it took so much convincing to finally get him to agree. He was paying almost nothing living with one of his friends in a nice big house. He finally ended up agreeing to a place we could both afford. So the thing is that we both have to contribute financially to be able to afford the apartment. My boyfriend got the 1 year lease in his name. Well I found out that when I was out of town my boyfriend ended up sleeping with his coworker’s friend. I found out because the neighbor across from us told me she saw a girl come out of our place and it wasn’t me and they were kissing. I confronted him and he admitted it. He said it was a one time thing and that he doesn’t even know or care for her. I have been staying at my parent’s house since then. Yesterday I told him we are done and that I will be moving all my stuff out this week. He is now telling me I can’t do that since I agreed to the one year commitment of renting the apartment with him. He’s telling me he cannot afford the rent on his own and that I will ruin his credit and his life since it was my idea to get a place and now he now has no where else to go. He keeps telling me I need to give him half the rent even if I’m not going to live there any more. Am I obligated to the lease even though my name isn’t on there? Am I the A-hole for leaving?
