TATTOOS AND WORK
Tattoos are definitely mainstream and accepted these days, but there are still some places that frown upon ink. Namely, workplaces. If you’re lucky enough to work in a creative environment, tattoos are very accepted, but other places aren’t as welcoming of visible tats.
In fact, according to a new survey from Skinfo, 37% of hiring managers list tattoos as the third physical attribute that could stop them from hiring someone (behind bad breath and piercings).
42% of people think visible tattoos are inappropriate at work. The places where visible ink is most frowned upon are the head, neck, and face.
But on the bright side, 73% of people say they would hire someone with visible ink. The industry with the highest percentage of tattooed staff? The military. The least? The government.
More numbers:
- 45 million people in the U.S. have at least one tattoo.
- 14% of people with tats regret their decision
