So my fiance and I are set to get married this coming October. We’ve been together 3 years. We grew up living a 10mins away but we never knew about each other until we were in college. Long story short. He is everything I want in a partner; super handsome, hardworking, funny and family oriented. For Christmas we got each other the DNA kits that you send in and tells you what genetic make up is. I’ve always wanted to do this just because my dad wasn’t part of my life I was a product of a one night stand. All I knew was that he passed away along time ago, that’s it my mom never want me to have any contact him. Well ironically I did and I am beyond devastated. I am still in disbelieve. One of the relatives that came up as my 1st cousin is my fiance. He got his results a week after I did and sure enough it came up that we are 1st cousins. I asked my mom about my fiance’s dad and it is true, he is my uncle, my dad’s brother. Talk about a small world. I have spent almost every night crying thinking about how is this even possible. I have so many questions, and anger and confusion on where to go from here. I really am in love with my fiance and finding out we are actually closely related destroyed my life. He doesn’t want us to break up, he wants to go through the marriage despite the news. I am now not so sure, I love him but I don’t know if I can go through with it. I’ve always dreamed of having kids but there’s no way I can children with him with out feeling guilt and for health reasons. What the heck are we supposed to do.
